Option groups are used to create options for a menu item so your customer can choose which option they want. To create options for a menu item, you need to create an option group. The option group is the title for the options you want to add.
For example, if you have a menu item called “Chicken and Chips” which comes with either french fries or sweet potato fries, the title of that option group will be “Sides” or “Chips” or “Fries Preference”. Then, you can add the options of french fries or sweet potato to that group.
To create options for a menu item, follow these steps:
Click Add an Option Group while creating the menu item.
Click on the “+” sign at the bottom right, this allows you to create an option group for that menu item.
Under Name, enter the name of the option group (e.g. Sides).
Under "Allow Customers To”, enter how many options you want customers to be able to select. In the example of fries above, we want the customer to be able to select just one so in this case, we will enter 1 under “select at least” and “select at most”.
If you are creating an option group where you want the customer to be able to select a different number of options, you can fill this as you would want. Now it’s time to add the actual options under this group.
Click Add Option.
Click on the “+” sign at the bottom right, this allows you to create the options under this group.
Under Name, enter the name of the first option. E.g. French Fries.
Under Price, enter the price of that option. The price can be zero.
Click Add Option to add the option to that group.
Repeat this process by clicking the “+” sign to create as many options as you need to add to the group.
When you have created all your options, ensure they are ticked on the list and click “Confirm your selection”.
You can also select existing menu items as the options under this group. However, please note that if you do this, the option will be created using the price on the menu item as created. If you want the price to be zero under this option group (or you want it to be a different price) then you have to create it afresh as done above.
When you have confirmed your selections, toggle the Publish Now button.
Click Create Option Group at the bottom.
