Why do we need your BVN?
Your Bank Verification Number (BVN) helps us confirm that you're the one moving money on your Chowdeck account. It protects your wallet from fraud, such as stolen cards being used to fund wallets, and helps us meet Nigerian financial regulations.
When and how to add it
If there's no BVN on your profile, we'll ask you to enter your 11-digit BVN before you can:
Top up your wallet online or with a saved card
Pay for betting through Bills (for example, SportyBet or MSport)
Refund money from your wallet to your bank account
You only need to add your BVN once, at the point of verification, and nowhere else. After the first verification, we won't ask again. You can keep ordering on Chowdeck as usual, and topping up through your dedicated Chowdeck account number doesn't need a BVN.
Good to know
Each BVN can only be linked to one Chowdeck account.
Refunds to your bank must go to an account in the same name as your BVN. You can change your bank account on the app.
Is my BVN safe?
Yes. We only use your BVN to confirm your identity. It doesn't give Chowdeck or anyone else access to your bank account, and we'll never sell your details.
