This article explains how your commission and Chowpass tier are connected, what each tier means for you, and how to request a change.

Commission is the percentage Chowdeck deducts from your order value before you're paid out.

If you're checking your rate:

  • On the web (Vendor Dashboard): look for Commission in the Business Information section of your Profile page.

  • On the app: go to Profile and tap Store Details.

That's the number that affects your payout.

How is my commission set?

Your commission isn't a single fixed number that applies to every vendor — it's set individually, based on:

  • Your vendor category (restaurant, supermarket, pharmacy, local market, etc.)

  • Any specific agreement made with our vendor team

  • Your Chowpass tier, if you're enrolled

Your Chowpass tier is set based on the commission you agree to at onboarding — or later, if you choose to move up a tier. Because of this, two vendors in the same city or category can be on different rates and different tiers.

What are Chowpass Vendor Tiers?

If you're enrolled in Chowpass, your store sits on one of three tiers, based on the commission you agreed to. Your tier determines how close a Chowpass subscriber must be to your store to qualify for free delivery on their order:

Tier

Commission

Free delivery for Chowpass subscribers within

Basic

15%

5 km

Premium

20%

7 km

Agba

30%

10 km

A higher commission moves you into a wider-reach tier, putting your store in front of more Chowpass subscribers — our most frequent buyers.

You can request to move up a tier by agreeing to a higher commission for wider Chowpass reach, but you cannot move down a tier to reduce your commission. Commission reductions are handled separately through a performance-based review and don't change your tier or reach.

How do I request a commission change?

Commission changes are not self-serve — every request is reviewed individually by our vendor team.

To move up a tier (wider customer reach), reach out to Chowdeck Support via the in-app chat or email [email protected], let us know your store name and the tier you'd like to move to, and confirm you agree to the higher commission that comes with it. This is straightforward to action once confirmed.

To request a commission reduction, reach out the same way and let us know the rate you'd like to move to. Unlike a tier upgrade, this goes through a performance-based review — our team looks at factors like your order volume, ratings, and how long you've been active before confirming an outcome. A few things worth knowing:

  • Reviews are generally only carried out once a store has been active for a meaningful length of time — a brand-new store won't usually qualify yet.

  • Reductions are performance-based, not automatic — recent order volume, ratings, and average order value all factor into what (if anything) can be offered.

  • Chowdeck maintains a minimum commission floor, so requests for very large reductions may not be possible regardless of performance.

  • A commission reduction does not move you down to a lower tier — you keep your current tier's Chowpass reach.

  • If approved, the new rate applies going forward — it won't be applied retroactively to past orders.

Common questions

Why is my commission different from another vendor I know?

Commission is set per vendor based on category, individual agreement, and Chowpass tier — it's normal for vendors to be on different rates, even within the same city or vendor type.

Does a higher Chowpass tier always mean higher commission?

Generally, yes — that's how the tiers work: Basic, Premium, and Agba each correspond to a specific commission range, and moving up a tier means agreeing to a higher rate. The one exception is if you later request and receive a commission reduction: your rate can drop without your tier changing, since tiers don't downgrade.

Can I move to a lower tier to reduce my commission?

No — tier downgrades aren't possible. Whatever tier you're on is the tier you stay on. If you'd like a lower commission, request a commission review instead; this is assessed separately based on your store's performance and won't change your tier.

How do I check my current commission rate?

On the web, it's visible under Business Information on the Profile page of your Vendor Dashboard. On the app, go to Profile and tap Store Details. If you can't locate it, reach out to support, and we'll confirm it for you.
